Description
A quick and flavorful 15-minute dinner featuring sweet honey, punchy garlic, and a spicy kick, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 pound (450g) medium or large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tablespoons (60ml) honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lime juice
- Optional garnish: chopped green onions or fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Peel and devein shrimp if not already done. Mince garlic finely. Measure honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes. Mix sauce ingredients ahead of cooking.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and lime juice. Set aside.
- Heat skillet over medium-high heat and add oil. When shimmering, add shrimp in a single layer. Cook undisturbed for about 2 minutes until pink on one side, then flip and cook another 2 minutes until opaque and springy.
- Push shrimp to the sides of the pan. Add minced garlic to the center and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
- Pour in the honey-soy sauce mixture and toss everything together. Let simmer for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens and coats shrimp.
- Remove from heat. Sprinkle chopped green onions or cilantro if desired. Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or with sautéed greens.
