Description
Tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs cooked in the oven with a smoky bourbon BBQ glaze. This stress-free, one-pan recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor without the need for a grill.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 pounds baby back ribs
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup apple cider
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Pat ribs dry and remove the silverskin membrane from the back of the ribs.
- Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, and salt in a small bowl to create the dry rub.
- Generously rub the spice mix all over the ribs, pressing it into the meat.
- Line a large baking sheet with heavy-duty foil and parchment paper. Pour apple cider into the pan.
- Place ribs bone-side down on the pan. If using two racks, stack them meat-side up on the bottom rack.
- Wrap the ribs tightly in the foil to create a sealed packet.
- Bake for 1.5 hours without opening the oven.
- Remove pan and carefully open foil. Drain most of the liquid, leaving about a tablespoon.
- In a small saucepan, mix BBQ sauce, bourbon, and butter. Heat over low heat until combined.
- Brush the glaze generously over the ribs.
- Turn oven to Broil (High). Broil ribs for 3-5 minutes until sauce bubbles and chars slightly.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
Notes
Ensure the foil is sealed tightly to maintain steam during the cooking phase. Do not skip removing the silverskin membrane as it prevents tenderizing. Resting the ribs is crucial to retain juices. If your oven runs hot, check the ribs 10 minutes early during the broiling phase.
