Description
A quick and delicious weeknight dinner featuring salmon glazed in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, roasted alongside crisp asparagus on a single baking sheet for minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs salmon fillets (center-cut, skin-on or skin-off)
- 2 tablespoons neutral oil (avocado or vegetable)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tablespoon jarred)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 large bunch asparagus (about 1 lb)
- 1 tablespoon oil (for asparagus)
- Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly grease.
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper.
- Wash and dry asparagus, snap off woody ends, and toss with 1 tablespoon oil, salt, and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
- Arrange asparagus on one side of the baking sheet and salmon fillets on the other, ensuring they do not touch.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce over the salmon fillets, coating them generously. Optionally drizzle a little over the asparagus.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until salmon flakes easily with a fork but remains moist inside.
- For crispy skin, broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Let salmon rest for 2 minutes before serving. Spoon any remaining pan sauce over the top.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure roasting rather than steaming. Pat the fish dry for better texture. If using thin fillets, check at 10 minutes. For crispy skin, broil at the end but watch closely as honey burns quickly. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
