Description
A quick and simple honey mustard glazed salmon recipe perfect for busy weeknights, featuring minimal prep and a delicious balance of tangy and sweet flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each / 170g each), fresh or thawed frozen, skin-on or skinless
- 3 tablespoons honey (45 ml)
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard (45 ml)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml), extra virgin recommended
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 minced garlic clove as substitute)
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste (kosher salt preferred)
- Lemon wedges for serving
- Optional add-ins: fresh herbs like parsley or dill, green beans or asparagus
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to help the glaze stick and promote browning.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth and glossy.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush or spoon the honey mustard glaze generously over the top of each fillet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on fillet thickness, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the glaze is caramelized but not burnt.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve with lemon wedges and optionally sprinkle fresh herbs on top. Add roasted veggies or a salad as desired.
Notes
Do not overcook the salmon to keep it moist and tender. Pat fillets dry before glazing for better caramelization. Fresh salmon is preferred but thawed frozen works well. You can add green beans or asparagus to the baking sheet for a one-pan meal. Let salmon rest after baking to redistribute juices. For a spicy twist, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the glaze. Store leftover glaze in fridge up to 3 days.
