Gooey Salted Caramel Brownies

  • Author: Grace
  • Total Time: 40-45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

A simple 5-ingredient recipe for rich, fudgy brownies with irresistible salted caramel swirls. Perfectly gooey with a salty-sweet contrast, these brownies are easy to make and loved by all.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) salted caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. Make the Salted Caramel Sauce (if homemade): In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar, stirring constantly until fully melted and amber colored.
  2. Carefully add 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, stirring until melted.
  3. Remove from heat and slowly stir in 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream, then stir in 1 teaspoon fine sea salt. Let cool slightly.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until combined and glossy.
  6. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition until smooth.
  7. Gently fold in flour until just combined; do not overmix.
  8. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  9. Drizzle half the salted caramel sauce over the batter in ribbons.
  10. Top with remaining batter and smooth gently.
  11. Drizzle remaining caramel on top and swirl lightly with a butter knife or skewer to create marbled patterns.
  12. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, checking at 25 minutes. Edges should be set and center soft and gooey.
  13. Cool in pan for at least 10 minutes before lifting out using parchment overhang.
  14. Cut into 12 squares and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs for better mixing. Do not overmix batter to avoid cakey brownies. Start checking bake time at 25 minutes to keep center gooey. Swirl caramel lightly to keep distinct ribbons. Caramel sauce can be made ahead and stored in fridge for up to a week. Line pan with parchment for easy removal.
