Football Tailgate Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings: Quick Game Day Win

  • Author: Grace
  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Crispy, golden oven-baked chicken wings tossed in a rich garlic-parmesan butter sauce. This easy, five-ingredient recipe is perfect for game days, requiring no deep frying and minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano-Reggiano)
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two large rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  3. In a large bowl, toss dried wings with vegetable oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer on baking sheets, ensuring they are not touching.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until skin is golden brown and crispy. Optionally broil for 2-3 minutes for extra crispiness.
  6. While wings bake, melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  7. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the butter; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not brown.
  8. Remove from heat and whisk in grated Parmesan cheese until smooth.
  9. Stir in lemon juice and half of the chopped parsley.
  10. Transfer baked wings to a large clean bowl.
  11. Pour the garlic-parmesan sauce over the hot wings and toss gently to coat evenly.
  12. Sprinkle with remaining parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat wings dry thoroughly to ensure crispiness. Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for a smooth sauce; pre-grated cheese contains anti-caking agents that prevent proper melting. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of warm water or butter. Reheat leftovers in the oven at 400°F to restore crispiness.
