Classic Mojito Recipe

  • Author: Grace
  • Total Time: 8 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A refreshing and easy-to-make classic mojito cocktail featuring fresh mint, lime, sugar, white rum, and soda water. Perfect for summer occasions and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons white granulated sugar
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) white rum
  • 23 ounces (6090 ml) soda water
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice
  • Optional garnish: extra mint sprigs and lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Rinse mint leaves and pat dry. Cut lime in half and juice about 1 ounce (1 lime).
  2. Place mint leaves and sugar in a glass. Gently muddle with a muddler or back of a spoon to release oils and dissolve sugar without crushing too hard.
  3. Add fresh lime juice and white rum to the glass. Stir quickly to combine.
  4. Fill the glass with crushed ice or ice cubes. Top with soda water (2-3 ounces). Stir gently to mix without bruising the mint.
  5. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge. Give a quick final stir and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Crushed ice chills the drink quickly and dilutes it just enough. Add soda water last and stir gently to keep fizz. Optionally shake rum, lime, and sugar before adding mint and soda for smoother sugar dissolution.
